Sheer Shades with Linear Designs
The linear design is powerful with bold, clean lines and a strong, authoritative manner. Traditionally, when it comes to window treatments with sharp linear designs hardwood treatments like shutters and blinds provided the streamlined aesthetic and clean lines necessary for this style, but now there are also modern soft treatments that have the same view-through linear motif as shutters and blinds but are made from fabric components resulting in more fluid styles of window treatments. Sheer shades, banded shades, and roller shades can all add linear design elements to your décor with a soft touch, and in addition to the enhanced décor, they also have the added benefits of high-end window treatments from Hunter Douglas including light-control and privacy.
Sheer Shades
Sheer shades are the polar opposite of hardwood shutters when it comes to construction material, but both have striking horizontal lines and a clean, sleek feel. The diaphanous fabric used in sheer shades gives them a softer feel that is reinforced by the movement of sheer shades which is fluid yet precise. Sheer shades also lend textural interest and depth to linear designs through the juxtaposition of translucent fabrics with opaque fabric vanes that can be made from a variety of other materials and textiles from knobby tweeds to colorful kinds of cotton to natural woven textures. Hunter Douglas has two styles of sheer shades that have strong horizontal lines when the fabric vanes are open and provide utter privacy when the fabric vanes are closed. Pirouette® Window Shadings, which utilizes sculpted front-facing fabric vanes with a single layer of sheer backing, and Silhouette® Window Shadings that have s-shaped vanes seamlessly suspended between and front a rear piece of sheer fabric.
Banded shades
Like sheer shades, banded shades utilize translucent and opaque fabrics to create a linear design with alternating lines of sheer and solid fabrics. Banded shades offer view-through light control and easy operation with the streamlined lift technology of roller shades. With a variety of fabric choices in different colors, textures, and opacities as well as different band heights, banded shades are highly customizable and will work for a range of décors and personal tastes. Roller Shades
Because the fabric-forward design of roller shades creates a large area of uninterrupted space, they make a great canvas for linear or geometric prints as the linear features won't be distorted by fabric folds. Atwood is well known for her use of color and pattern including her organic reinterpretations of traditional linear designs.
